Five members of the Richmond Strikers Girls
Elite program have been selected to attend
the ODP Region I Camp at the University of
Rhode Island in the upcoming month of July.
Nikki Pond, Christina Corbin and Jordan
Davis were selected from the 94 team, while
Ellie Sullivan and Marissa Segala were
selected from the 95 team. Members were
chosen based upon their performance in the
Rider Cup, held in New Jersey in June, where
the teams played against other teams within
the Region I group which is comprised of:
Connecticut, Delaware, New York,
Pennsylvania, Maine, Maryland,
Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey,
Rhode Island, Vermont, West Virginia and US
Youth Soccer Europe.
The girls performed strongly beating opponents from Connecticut, New Jersey and Pennsylvania among the 95's and two strong NY teams within the 94 age group. Virginia will be sending two age groups, the 91's and the 93's, to the semi finals on June 21st as the older age groups (93, 92, 91) play to move onto the national championships.
The Region I camp will see approximately 500 girls in each age group from across the region compete for a chance to be named to the Region I team. We wish these girls the best of luck in the upcoming weeks and congratulate them on their accomplishments!
