The Richmond Kickers Destiny of the USL W-League announced the return of 11 key players to the 2008 squad - the fifth year for the club. Carter Blair, Sarah Curtis, Kylie Davies, Mary MacKenzie Grier, Lauren Hardison, Sarah Hilt, Chantel Jones, Sarah McAulay, Caitlin Miskel, Michelle Schuler and Amanda Stewart all committed to return pending USL/USSF approval. 

The Destiny also announced the addition of newcomers Kristin Lescaleet, Molly McKeon and Kathleen Russell, who are former Richmond Strikers youth players, also pending USL/USSF approval. 

The Destiny open the 2008 season this Sunday, May 18th when they host the Carolina RailHawks at 6:00 pm at First Market Stadium on the campus of the University of Richmond.    
  
Goalkeeper Chantel Jones, another former Richmond Striker, returns in 2008 after protecting the nets with the Destiny for the past three seasons.  A rising University of Virginia sophomore, Jones has made 16 appearances with the Destiny, splitting time with the U-20 National Team, as she was called up last summer for the Pan Am Games. 

Former Richmond Strikers youth players and rising freshmen Molly McKeon, Kristen Lescaleet and Kathleen Russell are new to the Destiny roster this season.  The 2006 Richmond Times-Dispatch Metro Player of the Year and First Team All-State selection, McKeon is slated to attend UVA next year while First Team All-Metro honorees Lescaleet and Russell have committed to the University of Richmond.       

 

 


 
Welcome to the Richmond Strikers! The Richmond Strikers Soccer Club is a 501C(3) non-profit corporation and has been providing soccer programs in Richmond for 26 years. Over the years, Strikers has grown to be the area’s largest non-profit club offering a variety of soccer programs for all ages. In March 2006, the Richmond Strikers merged with VA CASL creating one of the largest clubs in Virginia and the nation, and an organization that serves a broad geographic range covering the western and eastern parts of Richmond . Striker Park , located in the heart of Short Pump, is one of the country’s top youth soccer facilities and home to a state-of-the-art Nike turf field. Plans are underway to develop another soccer complex in the eastern part of Richmond on land that was donated to the Strikers. Strikers host several large annual tournaments including the prestigious Jefferson Cup which brings in over $8 million to the Richmond area. For all its accomplishments, the Richmond Strikers has been named one of 45 Nike Premier Clubs in America.
