The
Richmond Strikers are gearing up to host their 5th
season of Super Y League play this summer and try-outs
will begin at the end of February. In its four years of
competition, the Strikers have qualified 6 teams for
National Finals. In 2007, the Super Y U15 Girls team
advanced to the National Finals in Tampa. The summer
competition helps prepare the Strikers teams and players
for the fall season.
Each
year, we see improvement in the players who continue to
train over the summer through their participation in the
Super Y program.

Importance
to the Club:
The
Super Y program is not mandatory for our players, but we
strongly recommend that each player take advantage of
additional training and matches provided through the
participation in this program. The Super Y is offered by
the club as part of the Strikers’ commitment to the
development of our players, and it serves to advance the
players’ technical levels of play. Additionally, Super Y
serves as a chance for teams to stay together and mature
together on and off the field.
Schedule:
This
year’s schedule will be spread over the months of June,
July and August. The flexible schedule takes into
account family vacation and camp schedules. Roster
maximums of 26 players make it easier to accommodate
player conflicts. The roster size has helped our
Strikers program to integrate premier and united players
with elite players and coaches.
Payments:
Super Y League Fees for the Club remain the same as last
year.
$450.00 for Players inside the Richmond Strikers

There is a $150.00 Deposit that is due at try-outs.

you to the registration table prior to your try-out.
This deposit will be applied to the player’s overall fee
if the player makes the team. If a player does not make
the team, the deposit will be returned after the
try-outs.
Travel:
Travel is not included in this fee. League schedules
have not been finalized at this time (we expect the
league to provide us with the schedule by mid-April). We
travel as a club, and do our best to have all teams
playing in the same area to give a better chance for
support from all of our players. Buses will be used only
for Atlanta (if we do travel to Atlanta). For other
locations such as Northern Virginia, Raleigh area,
Greensboro and Charlotte, we will carpool.
Miscellaneous:
The
Super Y league is a program run through the professional
league United Soccer league (USL) and sanctioned by US
Club soccer.
The
regular season league games will start beginning of June
and end by Mid-August. The regular season league
consists of 10 to 14 games. Each team will practice
twice a week. The teams winning their divisions will be
invited to compete in the Super Y Nationals in Florida
(usually in November).
Over
100 clubs throughout the country participate in the
Super Y league. Our South Atlantic conference consists
of Atlanta Fire, Atlanta Silverbacks, Carolina Dynamo,
Charlotte Soccer Club, Fredericksburg, Northern Virginia
Majestics and Royals, Raleigh CASL, Richmond Kickers and
Triangle FC.
Players will try out for their current age group. For
instance, if the player is currently a U14 player, then
he/she would try out for the U14 Super Y team. Each
Super Y coach will be able to select up to 26 players
for the team. However, only 18 players will dress on
game day.
Lodging and transportation will be established by the
Striker office. Each year, we do have a full weekend of
games scheduled away. Hotel reservation will be made via
the office and the team managers. Cost of lodging and
transportation is not included in the Super Y player
fee.
