High School League Special Rules and Information

 

Practice Sessions:

• U14 and Up may practice twice a week not to exceed 1 hr. per session,

OR may practice one evening a week not to exceed 2 hrs.

• Practice sessions are to be suspended if thunder is heard or lightning is seen.

 

Games:

• Games will be played as scheduled. If the coach or assistant coach is not available, a parent should be designated.

• If games are cancelled because of weather conditions, please call the Weather Hotline at 288-2261 for more information.

• If thunder is heard during a match, the referee has the responsibility to suspend the game. Everyone must clear the field. If the first half of the game has been played, the game is considered complete.

• Games may not be re-scheduled between coaches. All games must be on the official schedule to ensure that properly accredited referees are available as well as to ensure that all players remain insured.

 

Pre-Game:

• Players should be instructed to arrive 20 minutes prior to their game.

• Avoid warming up in the penalty box area.

• Games must start within 5 minutes of the scheduled start time.

• If a referee is not present, the coaches should decide who will referee. When the scheduled referee arrives, he will take control immediately.

• Each U9-U12 team is to supply a volunteer linesman for their game or the coach is required to be the linesman.  This linesman is not to call any infractions.  The only responsibility of the volunteer linesman is to assist the referee with out of bound possessions.

• The team listed first on the schedule is the Home team, and the team listed second is the Away team.

 

Mandatory Playing Time

• Each player is to play at least half of each match, unless the player is injured. The coach should strive to equalize play among all the players. The coach is responsible for insuring mandatory playing time.

• If a coach denies a player mandatory playing time, the Club may rule the match a forfeit.

• If a coach decides to bench a player for disciplinary reasons, he must first notify the player’s parents and receive permission from the Club. Requests by coaches to bench a player will not be favored.

Game Duration: Two 45 minute halves with a half-time break of five minutes.

 

Practices: One practice during the week not to exceed 2 hours. Referees: A three man system is utilized with a center referee and two assistant referees

Welcome to the Richmond Strikers! The Richmond Strikers Soccer Club is a 501C(3) non-profit corporation and has been providing soccer programs in Richmond for 26 years. Over the years, Strikers has grown to be the area’s largest non-profit club offering a variety of soccer programs for all ages. In March 2006, the Richmond Strikers merged with VA CASL creating one of the largest clubs in Virginia and the nation, and an organization that serves a broad geographic range covering the western and eastern parts of Richmond . Striker Park , located in the heart of Short Pump, is one of the country’s top youth soccer facilities and home to a state-of-the-art Nike turf field. Plans are underway to develop another soccer complex in the eastern part of Richmond on land that was donated to the Strikers. Strikers host several large annual tournaments including the prestigious Jefferson Cup which brings in over $8 million to the Richmond area. For all its accomplishments, the Richmond Strikers has been named one of 45 Nike Premier Clubs in America .
